This short video shows my Shaw Direct Satellite System setup and alignment procedure. Don't worry - this method works with all major satellite systems including Dish, Direct TV, Bell and FTA. I use a First Strike meter, Align-A-Site spotting scope and Winegard tripod to perform a simple 90 second setup. meters that you get from eBay read signals from any satellite. You routinely get readings from the wrong transponder. You must to use your receiver to verify that you have locked on to the right target. It can be frustrating. This procedure lets you verify everything with a digital satellite meter that only shows readings from the desired satellite. We use this satellite dish weekly as we travel around Canada in our motorhome. It is a viable alternative to more expensive carryout and auto-tuning dishes. I can 'shoot through the trees' and get a signal when other methods can't. It is fun too.
